Lenovo Z2 Plus India Launch Set for Thursday

  • The Z2 Plus is a rebranded variant of the Zuk Z2
  • Lenovo Z2 Plus India price is not yet known
  • The company has detailed India-specific features

Lenovo India has started sending invites of the launch of its Z2 Plus smartphone in the country on Thursday. The company is holding a launch event in New Delhi that’s scheduled to begin at 11:30am IST.

The Chinese consumer electronics giant will be launching the Lenovo Zuk Z2 – which was launched in China in May this year – as the Lenovo Z2 Plus in India.

Detailing the reasons behind the rebranding in the country, Anuj Sharma, Head of Product Marketing, Smartphones, Lenovo MBG India told Gadgets 360, “Once we are getting into a particular price band, we want to make sure consumers know the brand. We want to sell the phone. We are not bringing the device as token flagship as India is still a big market for us. However, Zuk branding will be there on the box, with the text ‘Powered by Zuk’ as a hat tip for the Zuk team.”

The Lenovo Z2 Plus will be launched in two variants in the country – 3GB of RAM with 32GB of inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of inbuilt storage. Both variants are dual-SIM, and will support 4G SIM cards in one slot, and 3G SIM cards in the other.

The Z2 Plus won’t run Cyanogen OS – like the Lenovo Zuk Z1 (Review) did – and will instead come with the Google Now Launcher pre-installed. The company says India-specific features will include gesture shortcuts via the fingerprint scanner. It will also bear a dedicated pedometer and come with the company’s new U-Health app.

The Zuk Z2 smartphone launched in China features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 2.5D curved high-fibre glass. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked up to 2.15GHz. The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with EIS, an f/2.2 aperture, and PDAF. An 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture round off the optics on board the Zuk Z2. It packs a 3500mAh battery that supports fast charging – charging up to 80 percent in one hour. The Lenovo Zuk Z2’s connectivity options include offers 4G LTE (with support Indian LTE bands), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1 BLE, and USB 2.0 Type-C port.

Is Your Phone Prepared for a Crisis?

Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives. They contain most of our personal information and are used to perform multiple tasks on regular basis. This is why it’s important that we keep them safe from all the atrocities of the modern day. Crisis can occur at any time, so it is better to have your smartphone prepared for anything. If your phone is ready for any kind of emergency, then good for you, but if it’s not prepared for a calamity that can strike it at any time, then following are some of the precautions you can and probably should take.

Smartphone theft has become quite common, so it’s best for you to be prepared. You must install a location tracking app like Mobistealth on your device so that you can keep an eye on your mobile even when it leaves your possession. This feature will not only be helpful in case of theft, but will also help you locate your device when you lose it somewhere. Smartphones contain most of our information and data, so having a location tracking app certainly helps.

Viruses are a pain, something you may be aware of already if one of your devices encountered them. They destroy everything that comes in their path, hindering the performance of smartphones in a big way. Viruses are quite unpredictable and can make their way into your device at any time. They can do a lot of damage if not dealt with sooner. So, to avoid all the hassle and for keeping your phone secure, simply download an updated antivirus app. These tools receive patches on regular basis to ensure safety of your device from any external threat. This is why you need to have an antivirus app installed on your phone.

Our smartphones contain our personal information like our names, social security numbers, passwords, emails, bank account numbers, and so much more. All of this information is quite critical because if any one of it gets stolen, then things can get pretty ugly. Hackers are well-aware of this and are always looking for people with weaknesses in their smartphones. They create different programs with the sole purpose of spying on other people’s devices so that they can get all the personal information and exploit it. To save yourself from such spyware, you must seek help from anti-spyware apps which are available in abundance. Apps like these will keep all the hackers at bay, thus keeping your device safe and secure.

Extortion Hacks

Hackers have become quite proficient with the advancement of technology, and are capable of hacking into devices with unprecedented ease. They get their hands on your personal information like pictures and videos, and then threaten to share them online if you don’t comply with what they say. This past year saw multiple hacks as security agencies, dating sites, and big corporations got attacked. If hackers can breach such high-level security, then they can hack into your device as well. Knowing that, it is better to stay safe by using complicated passwords and biometric security protocols.

Why should you have an SMS monitoring software on your kids’ cell phones?

Nothing is cheap these days, thanks to technology that was suppose to make our lives better, but instead, we are all just running behind achieving a standard of living that’s only about latest smartphones, Smart TVs, expensive cars and every other thing that says “Gold”. Well technology is definitely revolutionising our lives in many ways, but you need to be either rich or a little smart to enjoy all the amenities of modern tech.

For example, if you want a new smartphone that’s for $800/month during release, wait for a few months and get it then. The most important part about technology is to know when to upgrade. Just for some nuances, you are not supposed to spend your limited cash on newer products. Again, take the example of smartphones. I own a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, which has been followed up by Galaxy S6 edge +, so the first thing I asked myself was, whether I need more RAM and a bigger display, and I knew the answer to these questions. I am still on my S6 edge. Similarly, when it comes to the security of these expensive smartphones that we own, there is little that’s done about it. And by mentioning security, I am not referring to viruses and antivirus. It’s about the how we make sure that people around us, like our kids, are safe from the dangers of the internet that’s available on their smartphone. Internet-ready is not the only trait that makes smartphones unsuitable for tweens and teens, people around your kids can have all kinds of wrong intentions and they can use a smartphone to manipulate them. For example, stranger danger is a term that’s commonly used for people who stalk others and even bait them into doing inappropriate and illicit things. Kids usually fall prey to these kinds of people because of their lack of prior exposure to anything like that.

So to keep your kids, and other people that you care about safe, an SMS monitoring software can be used. Trust me, after all, it all starts from SMS.

To keep your kids safe, you need to get a monitoring software that’s reliable, effective, simple and affordable, and It should be able to track both sides of the SMS conversations. With an app like xnspy, you can do all that at just $8.33/month. You don’t need to have apps with premium features, because XNSPY’s basic version alone is perfect for that.

With XNSPY’s basic version, you can monitor other features of a smartphone like photos, videos and audio stored on the monitored phone’s storage, and also calls, emails, internet browsing history, calendar entries, installed apps list and even WhatsApp.

Other options

If you want an app that’s equipped with GPS monitoring and if you are ready to pay a little more, then Teensafe is another option that you can consider. But compared to XNSPY, that’s almost like paying double. But wait, XNSPY’s premium version also offers GPS tracking services with many other useful features at just $12.49/month.

New Nexus 5 2015 UK release date, price & specification rumours

One of two new Nexus phones to be revealed within weeks, the Nexus 5 (or Nexus 5X) is an LG-made smartphone running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Here we round up the rumours surrounding the new Nexus 5 UK release date, price and specification, which could be here by the end of September! Also see: New Nexus 6 2015.

In October 2014 Google announced its Nexus 6 phone, which followed the £299 Nexus 5 in October 2013 and £239 Nexus 4 in 2012. It was Google’s least exciting Nexus phone yet, and a large part of that was the fact that for many customers the 5.96in Quad HD display was too big and the £499 price too high. Also see: Nexus 6 review.

So what is Google to do next? Smartphone or phablet? High-end specifications or affordable to the masses? With Huawei and LG having each confirmed they are on board, and both known for their ability to offer killer phones at mid-range prices, it could be about to find the perfect compromise. Whether you want a smartphone or a phablet you shouldn’t have to trade value for specification.

And so, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that Google has two new phones lined up for 2015. On this page you can read rumours surrounding an LG Nexus 5 (also known as the Nexus 5X); see New Nexus 6 UK release date, price and specification rumours for details on the forthcoming Huawei Nexus 6.

New Nexus 5 UK release date and price rumours: When is the new Nexus 5 coming out?

During the Google I/O 2015 keynote we got our first glimpse of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the operating system that will run on the new Nexus phones. At the keynote Google failed to mention any new Nexus handsets or tablets, but it’s already possible to install Android 6.0on the existing Nexus 5.

Android M includes a number of important and interesting changes to the operating system, including a mobile payments system, USB Type-C support and what Google calls ‘more intuitive’ app permissions. Android M will launch globally in the Autumn, and the developer release suggests that the Nexus 5 will get it straight out of the box.

Following tradition, we expect to see the new Nexus 5 launch as the device on which Google showcases the final version of its new Android operating system. This means we’ll, like last year, see it around the middle of October, with the phone going on sale in November. Indeed @evleaks says the two new Nexus phones will go on sale in Q4 of this year.

Update 8 September: Talk Android reports that Google will unveil the new Nexus phones on 29 September, and they will be available to pre-order just two weeks later on 13 October!

In terms of pricing, until we know the exact specification, we can merely speculate. The Nexus line is known for its value, and we really can’t see Google taking prices any higher than its £499 Nexus 6. Much more likely, given the findings of its Q1 2015 earnings call, is that it will return to its previous tack: high-end devices with mid-range prices. And, indeed, LG is well-known for producing devices with flagship specs and mid-range prices. We’d love to see another £299 LG Nexus 5, but we might find ourselves less disheartened if we hedge our bets and compromise between the Nexus 5 and 6, estimating somewhere around £399.

New Nexus 5 specification and feature rumours: What to expect from the new Nexus 5

It seems the LG Nexus will be the smaller and less powerful device of the two, with a 5.2in full-HD P-OLED screen that’s only a little larger than that of the existing Nexus 5. The new Nexus 5 will also reportedly use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor, and feature up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 64GB of storage and a 3180mAh battery. (Update: AndroidPit says the Nexus 5X will run the Snapdragon 808 with 3GB of RAM and a 2700mAh battery.)

Front-facing speakers, a rear fingerprint scanner, 13- and 4Mp cameras and USB Type-C with QuickCharge 2.0 are also speculated. The LG Nexus will allegedly offer a metal design rather than plastic (although we have heard it will get an aluminium frame with chamfered edges and a plastic rear cover), and measure 146.9×72.9×8/9.8mm.

GizmoChina also reports (but cites no sources) that the Nexus 5 will have a MediaTek connectivity chipset, front-facing speakers, and a rear power button with integrated fingerprint scanner.

New Nexus 5 leaked images

During its Google I/O keynote back in June Google announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow would get USB Type-C support built-in, and we were shown a mystery device. This could have been our very first look at the new Nexus 5.

The below concept image is from designer Miqdad Halim showing what an LG Nexus device might look like.

New Nexus 2015 phone UK release date, price, specification and feature rumours: When is the new Nexus 5 coming out? Who will make the new Nexus 5 2015?

The first leaked photo of the LG Nexus 5 comes from the Google+ page of the Google Nexus Community Indonesia. It reveals a white device with a circular fingerprint scanner, protruding camera and the Nexus logo at the rear.

Another leaked image comes from @Onleaks, who says the LG Nexus will have a 5.2in screen with a metal body, USB Type-C, front facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner on the back. It will measure 146.9×72.9×8/9.8mm.

@OnLeaks has since leaked a new image of the Nexus 5 in a Ringke case.
