Playground Sessions Helps Students Learn to Play the Piano

The benefits are great for those who learn to play the piano. In fact, children who play an instrument do well in academic areas. A Canadian study shows that music lessons boost brain power. In particular, the part of the brain used in mathematics gets a boost. Further, it has been shown that listening to music can increase spatial intelligence. Spatial intelligence is what the mind uses to read maps and solve puzzles.

PlayStation VR Works With Xbox One, Windows PC, and Wii U; Just Not How You’d Expect

PlayStation VR Works With Xbox One, Windows PC, and Wii U; Just Not How You'd ExpectPS VR displays 2D content when used with a Wii U, Xbox One or Windows PC
You will not be able to derive native VR with these devices
Suffice to say it should function this way with other HDMI devices too
With the PlayStation VR (PS VR) hitting store shelves this week, some users have gone beyond using it with the PS4.

Reports have been trickling in of Sony’s maiden VR effort working on the Wii U and the Xbox One, as well as the Windows PC. Doing so on Nintendo’s soon to be obsolete console lets you play games as you would on a bigger screen as it did on the Xbox One. It even booted up on a Windows desktop when on PC.

(Also see: PlayStation VR India Launch to Be ‘Confirmed in Due Time’; Public Demos Set for IGX 2016)

Don’t expect content from the aforementioned device to be in native VR though. It simply displays regular 2D content from standard HDMI inputs.

While the rest of the world is busy tinkering with PS VR, Sony is giving India its first taste of the device this weekend, hinting at an India release date soon.

“For those who are looking forward to its launch, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support. We are beyond excited to deliver to them the amazing experience that PS VR offers. The launch date will be confirmed in due course of time,” said Robert Fisser, VP and General Manager (Middle East, Africa, Turkey, India), Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe in a prepared statement earlier this week.

In our initial impressions, we noted that PS VR, while being an intriguing piece of kit, isn’t exactly the game changer we hoped it would be. It will be interesting to see if the final version of the device changes our mind when we check it out.

Flipkart and Amazon Sales Feature Discounts on FIFA 17, Call of Duty, and Other Offers

Flipkart and Amazon Sales Feature Discounts on FIFA 17, Call of Duty, and Other OffersIt’s the festive season sale, and video games are not to be left out. While FIFA 17 has just been made available to the greater public via Amazon, that hasn’t stopped Flipkart from dropping its price almost simultaneously.

While purchasing it on Amazon India would set you back by Rs. 3,999, the Flipkart sale has made it available for Rs. 1,000 less. If you have an SBI debit or credit card, you can get a further 10 percent off. This is for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Not the PS3 variant which costs Rs. 3,999. Unsurprisingly, an Xbox 360 version of the game is not for sale since the console isn’t being manufactured any more.

Other offers include a whopping 71 percent off on Battleborn making it Rs. 999 for the PS4 and Xbox One and Rs. 443 for PC, Dishonored Definitive Edition at Rs. 1,198 instead of the usual Rs 2,999 for the PS4 and Xbox One, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at Rs. 1,475 – which is 40 percent off for the PS4 and, while it’s 23 percent off for the PC at Rs. 999.
As for the Amazon sale, Rs. 999 gets you Mirror’s Edge Catalyst for the PS4 or Star Wars Battlefront for the Xbox One. If you have a little more to spend, Rs. 1,500 gets you Street Fighter V for the PS4 and if you’re on a PS3, a ridiculously low Rs. 199 gets you Call of Duty: Ghosts. Our personal pick? Doom for the PS4 and Xbox One at Rs. 2,499. It’s a fair price for one of the best games this year. Strangely though, its PC version is nowhere to be found on disc, making Steam your only option. Looking for a discount on FIFA 17? Amazon will let you buy it for Rs. 1,000 less if you purchase a PS4.

What games are you buying? Do any of the offers on the Flipkart or Amazon sales interest you? Let us know in the comments.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Download Size Revealed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Download Size Revealed
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a 39.18GB download
You need to download at least 10.61GB to play it
PS4 owners can play it from October 5, others from November 4
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out on November 4 but for many, the appeal of the latest game in the series is the fact that its Legacy and Digital Deluxe Editions come with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered – often heralded as one of the greatest shooters ever.

What’s more is, buying either on the PS4 grants you access to the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered 30 days earlier – October 5 to be precise.

Unless of course, you’ve managed to snag early access, which some members of the press and streamers have. According to reports, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a hefty 39.18GB download. And you can start playing it after it reaches 10.61GB. To put it into perspective the original release of the game was around 8GB. 39.18GB is a lot larger than anticipated, possibly to accommodate the game’s multiplayer as well, despite it not being accessible until November 4.

The standard edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will set you back by Rs. 3,499 on PC while PS4 and Xbox One versions cost Rs. 4,499. And if you’re the sort who wants the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster with it, prepare to fork out Rs. 5,199 on PC and Rs. 6,299 on PS4 and Xbox One. Along with the 2007 classic it comes with 10 multiplayer maps as well.

Nonetheless if you want to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered on October 5, you’ll need to pre-order the game’s aforementioned Legacy or Digital Deluxe Edition for the PS4. The Xbox One and PC Legacy and Digital Deluxe Editions get it too but from November 4.

What’s interesting is that this time around, distributor World Wide CD ROM has told Gadgets 360 that there will not be any form of pre-order or online exclusivity like it did with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The game will be available to all game stores, both online and offline.

Play games Online and Make Money

Playing games online and making money should not be such a hard thing. Really it is not that hard. But a lot of people do make it hard on them. Over 90 percent of players online do not make any money. If you are serious in making money take a good look at my free tips that I am giving away to help fellow poker players play to their full potential.

I am going to give you a brief rundown on a great little strategy called hitting and running

Playing this game in a brick and mortar casino can make some people uncomfortable about sitting down and winning a few hands in quick succession. They can often feel that they are obliged to waiting it out and staying put for a certain amount of time. Hitting and running is great little technique where you can get in and out very quickly and make some good money out of it as well. Which is what we are here for, isn’t it?

Bingo is one of the most popular games played around the world as they are considered to be a great pastime for every individual. Due to this, online bingo is also becoming quite popular. However, there are certain similarities and differences in online bingo as compared to the real one played by people around the world. Playing bingo games online can surely help you in making loads of money on the go, without actually investing anything.
Playing online allows us the freedom to bounce around all over the place trying to find games that are only good for a short amount of time.

One great example I look for myself is to join an extremely shorthanded game and find yourself alone with one or two easily dominated opponents. As long as you can keep these guys or gals to yourself, you take their money off them. But beware that your shorthanded bliss could turn into full on grind. As soon as you see any signs of this happening, get the hell out of dodge. Don’t Hesitate!

There will be always another hit and run opportunity waiting for you in the lobby or at another site as well. The players that are making great money out of this and I am trying to get there ( slowly but surely ) myself. These guys can read the play and are light on their feet and switch about games as quick as you can click your finger. It might take a little while to get used to this style of thinking but it’s well worth the results, trust me I know from experiencing the rewards myself. But it does take practice. No doubt about it. Also be prepared to hit and run in the face of a negative outcome. It’s no point to try and feel a few bets of one or two players when all of a sudden you find yourself on the wrong end of the stick. If it’s turning bad – Run

Look at your poker career as one continuous session and few hick ups now and again just do not matter in the long run. This technique does work and works very well. If you would like to play poker online and make money, you are well on your way to doing so by using some of these tips.

Mario Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Confirms Super Mario Bros. 3 Was a Play

With Super Mario Maker hitting the Wii U this week, Nintendo released a video with series creator, Shigeru Miyamoto. And instead of it being your usual attempt at talking up the latest Mario game, it played right into one of Nintendo’s biggest strengths – its storied legacy over the years.

After all a company that’s been around for over 125 years has a few interesting myths right?

(Also see: Top 5 Mario Games Everyone Should Play)

While the video answered a host of fan theories such as who Mario was named after (Nintendo of America’s landlord, Mario Segale), it also verified one of the more popular assumptions floating around. Miyamoto confirmed that Super Mario Bros. 3 was indeed styled as a play or theatre production.

For the longest time fans have wondered if the revered classic was based on a dramatic performance what with curtains, bolted platforms, and exiting stage right at the end of a level. Other questions included whether Minamoto would allow Dr. Mario to perform on him (to which the answer was a vehement no) and if he is Bower Jr.’s mother (a surprising and creepy yes).

Coupled with other Nintendo news this week that revealed a new Pikmin game in the works and almost ready, and that the Nintendo NX could see Super Mario Galaxy 3, the Nintendo faithful have a lot to look forward to. This includes a stellar Wii U lineup this year that has the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero, Yoshi’s Wooly World, and of course, Super Mario Maker.

Witcher 3’s first expansion gets a release date and physical Gwent cards

The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone
Some of you (including my stalwart editor Brad Chacos) undoubtedly haven’t finished withThe Witcher 3 yet, content to forever wander the lonesome isles of Skellige and the dirty streets of Novigrad. But you’d better finish up soon—or at least hit Level 30.

Today, CD Projekt announced that the first Witcher 3 expansion, Hearts of Stone, will release on October 13. And it sounds…pretty crazy. Here’s how the press release pitches it:

“Step once again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, now hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.”

Partying with a ghost. I’m in.

Keep in mind that this is the “shorter” of the two Witcher 3 expansions, capping out around 10 hours. A longer (twenty hour) expansion called Blood and Wine is scheduled for release early next year. The only way to buy the expansions is still the $25 expansion pass, which bundles both together. However, CD Projekt did announce this morning you can buy a special $20 box copy of Hearts of Stone that comes with two physical Gwent decks. And if you already bought the expansion pass, you can get Gwent separately.

Luckily with the delayed PC release of Assassin’s Creed, the push-back of Rainbow Six, and et cetera, October is looking like it’ll be pretty quiet. You should have plenty of time to dive back into one of the absolute best games this year.

Up close with the Asus ROG GX700, a massive, watercooled gaming notebook

asus rog watercooled laptop 2
When Asus announced the Asus ROG GX700 at IFA in Berlin, we knew its massive cooling block would be one of the must-sees of the show. We weren’t disappointed. On the other hand, what they showed was just a semi-functional prototype. So although we spent some hands-on time with it, we can describe only in vague detail what’s going on inside of it.

Asus has yet to reveal any specs. We can be almost certain that one of Intel’s new, overclockable Skylake chips is inside. One Asus employee told us it would include the forthcoming Nvidia GTX 990M, but we can’t confirm that. All we do know is that the watercooling system inside the notebook will cool both the GPU and CPU.

And oh, what a watercooling system it has. Detached, the ROG GX700 laptop runs normally, using air to cool both the CPU and GPU. It’s hefty, weighing well over five pounds. As of now, Asus plans for it to have a 17-inch, 4K IPS display.

asus rog watercooled laptop 4KYLE MAACK
The GX700’s power port is in the center, flanked by the cooling channels.

Like docking the Starship Enterprise

Docking the laptop is no simple feat. It must be lowered onto two vertical pins that align the laptop just so. Afterward, you’ll need to fasten a clamp that tightly connects it to that crazy external cooling system. All this is to ensure a snug fit between the central power port and the coolant channels that flank it.

When you dock the notebook correctly, a klaxon-like sound rings out, and lights flicker in the depths of the cooling unit. To undock it, you need to press a rather stiff button in the center of the cooling unit, which pops the notebook up and out.

asus rog watercooled laptop 3KYLE MAACK

Because the demo unit wouldn’t boot—nor was it, presumably, circulating coolant—we don’t know whether you’ll need to shut down the laptop before docking or undocking it, or whether you’ll have to worry about coolant drips each time you use it. And, of course, we have no idea of how the notebook will perform. Asus claims it’ll provide 80 percent more performance than a normal laptop using the same parts, but lacking the external cooler.

Because the cooling unit is massive, there’s very little chance you’ll be toting this thing around. But it’s a intriguing design nevertheless. Even if gamers don’t opt for the ROG GX700’s massive cooling rig, Asus or other notebook manufacturers might be able to adapt the design. The end goal for a number of PC gamers would be something that could serve as a business notebook by day and a gaming notebook by night. The ROG GX700 was designed exclusively for gamers, but you just never know what the future holds.
